A global robotics community
committed to preparing young
generations to the challenges of the future

Passionate about STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics)

FIRST® programs give participants age-appropriate access to research, design, construction and programming activities. The theme changes each year, and teams investigate, analyze problems related to the challenge topic to design innovative solutions for their solution.

Teamwork promotes the acquisition of social and communication skills and is intended to encourage experimentation with different roles within the challenges proposed each year.

CORE VALUES.

Gracious Professionalism®

Term coined by Dr. Woodie Flowers, (1943 – 2019) EAB Chair Emeritus & Distinguished Advisor.

It is a way of dealing with challenges that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community.

Gracious professionals” learn and compete like madmen but treat each other with respect and kindness while avoiding treating anyone as a loser.

Coopertition®

It is a way of working that produces innovation. It means showing kindness and unreserved respect in the face of competition and is based on the idea that teams can and should help and cooperate with each other even during a competition.

It involves learning from teammates and simultaneously teaching teammates. It is learning from Mentors. And it is managing and being managed. Coopertition® means competing to the best of one’s ability, but assisting and helping others whenever possible.

Female and male students who participate in the FIRST® Tech Challenge learn to think like engineers. Teams design, build and code robots to accomplish missions on the field in alliance with other teams. The robots are driven by a reusable Android platform and coded at various levels using Java-based programming software.

Since 2023 ASSOCIAZIONE ARTU’ has been Program Delivery Partner for Italy for the FIRST® Tech Challenge.

FIRST® Global ‘s mission is to inspire leadership and innovation in young people of all nations by empowering them through education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, also known as STEM. The event is held in a different country each year and uses FIRST Tech Challenge Robots.
